Smart home buyers always ask broker for "comps", the selling prices of comparable homes in a given area, and often they are unsure if the agent is giving them all the comps or just the most convenient ones.
Now, buyers can get the information from an instantaneous unbiased source. Sprint and Smarter Agent have teamed up to offer Recently Sold Homes, a GPS-based application that locates the user's cell phone and provides a list of sold properties within a three-mile radius. By pressing a couple of buttons, the customer can access the location of the home, its size, number of rooms, sale price, sale date, and taxes.

Recently Sold Homes is available in 180 of the country's top markets, including New Jersey, and costs $5 per month. In addition, subscribers would need a Sprint data plan, for an additional $10 to $15 monthly.
"In a down-turning market, buyers need up-to-date information to make sure they are not paying yesterday's housing prices," says Smarter Agent President Eric Blumberg.
Recently Sold Homes is the first of the company's three projected real estate applications. The others are expected to provide data on rentals and prices of houses currently on the market.
